History of AJFO Conference
The first Adult and Juvenile Female Offenders (AJFO) conference was hosted in 1985 by the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Until then, there was no training and networking opportunity for corrections professionals who worked specifically with women and girls. A grassroots movement began to provide a forum for corrections professionals to come together every other year and share information and concerns regarding the needs, services and treatment of women and girls involved in the justice system.
In 2015, AJFO changed its' name to the Association for Justice-involved Females and Organizations (AJFO). The AJFO board partners with local hosts to support a bi-annual conference.
